NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 31: India had a field day on the penultimate day of the 3rd round of Asian Archery Championship with its archers sneaking into top medal rounds of both the individual and team events in the men’s and women’s sections on Tuesday.
In a major upset of the day, Alexander Kislitin of Kazakhistan, 100 out of 120, was pipped by Bhutanese Rinzin Choppel who shot a commendable 107.
Choppel chopped off the chances of Indian junior Gurucharan to make into finals by winning the tiebreaker 10-9 after their match was tied at 109-109.
Gurucharan had won a tiebreaker earlier in the quarter-finals against compatriot Kailash of India A team 104-104 (9-8).
Choppel now meets Somai Murmur of India junior team in the finals on Wednesday.
In the women’s event, Reena Kumari will vie for gold on Wednesday in the face-off with Tshering Chhoden of Bhutan who has shown consistent performance throughout the championship.
“I know I can give a good fight to Chhoden”, a confident Reena Kumari told PTI.
