With the World Cup round the corner, Sunil Gavaskar reckons that much of India8217;s fortunes in the Caribbean will depend on the start that comeback hero Sourav Ganguly provides at the top of the order.

The original Little Master was in the city for the launch of the book The Maharaja of Cricket by scribe Debasish Datta.

8220;The Indian team will depend a lot on Sourav for giving the kind of start that the team needs to bring the World Cup back to India. I wish him every success,8221; Gavaskar said on the sidelines of the launch of the coffee table book. The left-hander was present on the occasion.

Thirty-four year-old Ganguly, who made a sensational return to Greg Chappell8217;s brigade, is a certainty for the opener8217;s slot for the World Cup. The second opener8217;s slot will be a toss-up between Virender Sehwag and newcomer Robin Uthappa.

Interestingly, the genius batsman went on to draw comparisons between him and local hero Ganguly. 8220;Apart from both us being Cancerians, we also have the same initials SG,8221; Gavaskar said, tongue-in-cheek.

8220;Our biggest similarity lies in the passion we share for cricket, in playing for India and leading the country. You may say that our approach and attitude differ, but you cannot question our passion,8221; the diminutive player-turned-columnist said.
