Iran, Iraq confirm entries
PANAJI:
The Rajiv Gandhi under-21 international football tournament hosted by the Goa Football Association GFA will get under way from May 4 at Nehru Stadium Fatorda in Margao.

GFA secretary Alberto Colaco said today that among the four teams participating in the tournament besides India, Iran and Iraq have confirmed thier particpation. The last team most probably Egypt, is yet to confirmed. The final is slated for May 12.

Bagan plea
CALCUTTA:
National League champions Mohun Bagan will request the All-India Football Federation AIFF to allow them to represent the country in the Asian Club Cup championship this season.

The AIFF has made a major mistake, enrolling East Bengal for the Asian Club Cup matches, Bagan coach Amal Dutta said yesterday. He said Bagan8217;s club secretary, now out of station, would submit a protest letter to country8217;s supreme football body regarding the matter immediately after his return, Dutta said.

Firoz second
NEWDELHI:
Calcutta golfer and winner of the Classic Indian Open Firoz Ali with a total prize money of 51,695 is placed second in the Omega Tour Order of Merit.

Englishman Ed Fryatt who won the Volvo China Open heads the order of merit with a total prize money of 87,097. Two other Indians in the Order of Merit are Vivek Bhandari and Arjun Singh, Bhandari with 11,540 is 23rd while Arjun Singh with 9,430 is 29th.
