
Indian junior riders excel
NEW DELHI: India’s Simran Singh Shergil and Yogeshwar Singh were adjudged best international rider and team player’ and best international player’ respectively for their good show at the Junior International Tournament organised by Federation International de Polo III at Bagota, Colombia last week. The duo received the award for their good horsemanship, stick work and excellent team spirit in the event held from August 4 to 8, an Indian Polo Association release said here today.
Bhutia salutes SAI
GANGTOK: Baichung Bhutia said he will be happy to play for country in future but is “totally focussed” on the English league for the time being. Bhutia, set to sign a three-year contract with the English club Bury FC based in greater Manchester, refused to say anything else on his engagements abroad. Bhutia, who had earned a Sports Authority of India (SAI) scholarship at the age of 11, said a player should not forget his base and he was grateful to the SAI for whathe became today.
