Big win for BMFC
Haldia:
Fancied Bengal Mumbai Football Club (BMFC) drubbed Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Perambur 5-0 as Adil Ansari struck four times in a Group P encounter of the second division National Football League today. Ansari found the target in the 32nd, 53rd, 77th and 89th minutes while Uday Konar scored in the 70th minute.

BMFC finished second in the group after today’s encounter, which was only of academic interest. Meanwhile, organisers have rescheduled the final from April 30 to April 29.

Chinese coach
New Delhi:
China’s Zhu Xiaodong has been appointed chief coach by BAI to train its players for the international tournaments. Zhu is currently chief coach of Liaoning province team and has been called on to train the national Chinese team on many occasions. Zhu who will be based in Bangalore will take charge of training of the Indian junior team for the Asian Championship scheduled in July, 1999.

Vijayawada:
Badminton Association of India (BAI)has sanctioned three PRIZE money tournaments in the month of June. All India Seshasayee tournament will be held at Udyogamandal Club, Cochin from June 4-7 (prize money Rs 90,000), while Mumbai will host a Grand Prix tournament from June 11-14 (prize money 4 lakhs). Another Grand Prix with 4 lakh prize money at stake, will be hosted by Guwahati (Assam), from June 18-21.

Roy reigns
New Delhi:
Ashish Roy, the oldest Indian marathon runner at 67, completed his 44th marathon by winning the race in the age group of 55-plus at the Glass City Marathon in Ohio (US). Roy completed the 400-man marathon on Sunday in 3 hours, 51 minutes and three seconds — the best by him in the 14 races he has run in the last four years.
