Britto had earlier, in 1983, been appointed as one of the assistant coaches for the pre-Olympic football team under the then chief coach Ciric Milovan from Yugoslavia. In the same year, Britto was appointed the manager of the Indian team that went to Dhaka.

Sharma, Gomes umpires

MUMBAI: Mumbai8217;s SK Sharma and Bengal8217;s Francis Gomes are the two umpires appointed by the Indian cricket board to officiate in the Ranji Trophy final between holders Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh to be held in Bangalore from April 19-23.

Dr Rambabu Gupta of Delhi would be the match referee for the national championship8217;s title-clash, it was announced by the Board today.

World Cup trophy

MUMBAI:The World Cup trophy which has been specially flown in from London by Pepsi will be unveiled at the World Cup concert at the Andheri Sports Complex here on April 22 accompanied by a laser show. Also performing at the Pepsi-MTV concert will be an international music group from Sweden Graff Sisters, Kamaal Khan, Anaida and Usha Uthup.
