BCCI not to foot Jadeja’s bill

BARODA: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will not pay for Indian cricket star and Haryana skipper Ajay Jadeja’s hospital bill in Amercia to remove a cyst at the back of the knee.

JY Lele, the secretary of the BCCI told PTI here today that the nature of Jadeja’s injury was not very serious. “There was no need for Jadeja to go all the way to US for a minor surgery which could have been done by specialists in Mumbai or Bangalore,” he said. “Had Jadeja got operated here, BCCI would have paid the bill”, Lele said and added that Jadeja had not reported the matter to the Board.

India cricket team coach Anshuman Gaekwad said, Jadeja is likely to miss out on all the super league matches scheduled this month.

However, the Haryana team’s coach-cum-manager, Sarkar Talwar was not aware of Jadeja’s whereabouts while the champion fielder’s teammate and wicketkeeper Vijay Yadav said that Jadeja was nursing the injury for a couple of years.

Challenger doubtful

BARODA: The $ 50,000 ATP Challenger tennis tournament, planned for April this year at the IPCL Complex here, is unlikely to be staged.The sports secretary of IPCL, Muni J Bhatt said today, “The All India Tennis Association (AITA) approached us a bit late on this issue and I don’t think the event can be held this year.”
