
Chotrani overlooked for trials
MUMBAI: Former National men8217;s runner-up Udai Singh of Delhi and Mumbai8217;s top player Manish Chotrani have not been invited by the Squash Rackets Federation of India SRFI for the selection trials to pick the team for the July 11-18 Asian Championship to be held at Kuala Lumpur.
Both reigning national champion Akhil Behl of Mumbai and former champion and last year8217;s runner-up Arjan Singh of the Services have been exempted for the trials to be held at Delhi in the first week of June.
Among the players called for the camp are Services8217; Rajdeep Brar, Delhi8217;s Ritwik Bhattacharya and Rajasthan8217;s Gajendra Singh and Dhiraj Singh, according to information available here.
Bedi robbed
NEW DELHI: Former India cricket captain Bishan Singh Bedi was relieved of Rs 1 lakh yesterday after the money kept in his car at the National Stadium premises was stolen.
The money was meant for the trip with the young wards of Bishan Academy to the hilly resort of Udhagamandalam.The former spin wizard holds a high-altitude camp for budding cricketers as part of his annual camp.
Saha leads
PALAKKAD: Second-seeded Suvarjit Saha of Bengal is leading by 6.5 points a day before the final round of the Eighth National Youth Under 25 Chess Championship at the Seva Sadan Central School at Pathripala.
He is closely followed by Mari Arul Railways, Pritam Singh Bihar and Gurupreet Pal Singh Delhi with six points.
