India carries out cryogenic test

India on Saturday successfully carried out the first test of the cryogenic stage of a rocket engine in Tamil Nadu, putting the country in a select club of nations possessing such a capability.

The test lasting 50 seconds was conducted at the Indian Space Research Organisation8217;s Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre and was 8220;very successful8221;, ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair said. 8220;It is a major milestone in the development of rocket systems in the country. Only developed countries have reached this stage,8221; Nair said.
