Job racketeer arrested
Akole: Sandesh Delkar, 27, who had duped at least 18 youths of lakhs of rupees by promising them jobs in Central Government departments has been arrested by the Rajur police following a complaint lodged by Uttambai Hangekar, mother of a duped youth.
Delkar, a resident of Virar, had opened a “regional office” of the Association for Rural Development and Social Welfare at Rajur six months ago. He had issued advertisements seeking applications for the posts of surveyors and inspectors. He had `appointed’ 18 youths to the posts and collected money from them.
Two of the youths had received appointment letters recently. One was from the `secretary, carpet export department, New Delhi.’ The other was from the `secretary, carpet export department and training centre, Mumbai.’ The letters had government seals. However both the letters were signed by the same person. This gave rise to suspicion. After the case was referred to the members of the local anti-corruption committee, Delkar confessed that he had duped the youths.
