
32 escape with minor injuries in slab collapse
Thirty-two construction workers escaped with minor injuries when the slab of an industrial shed under construction at J8217; block of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation MIDC collapsed on Wednesday.
The mishap occurred at around 2.30 p.m. at Suyash Engineering, Bhosari. Of the injured, 17 were women. The injured have been admitted to Yeshwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital. The slab admeasuring about 2250 sq ft had no centre support, the labourers said. Two contractors Vinayak Badve 32, Shriniwas Badwe 35, Babu Shaikh 25, and fifty-year-old Rangavva Dasar were grievously injured. The workers hailed from Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Pune. Mayor Madhukar Pawle, commissioner B I Nagrale visited the injured at the hospital.
Bayas appointed Nagar collector
Pune Municipal Transport PMT general manager Prithviraj Bayas was transferred as Collector of Ahmednagar district on Thursday. He is expected to take charge at the new posting on Monday. Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Beed Zilla Parishad Subash Lolge will take charge as the new PMT general manager.
ACB nabs Kagal municipal head
Kolhapur: Chief Executive Officer CEO of Kagal Municipal Council KMC Shankar Mhamdapure was nabbed red-handed by Anti-Corruption Bureau ACB sleuths on Tuesday.
The CEO was caught accepting a paltry amount of Rs 385, a five per centcut of a bill. He had assured the contractor concerned to expedite the bill8217;s clearing, according to ACB officials.
Agro-diagnosis centres to come up
Ahmednagar: The State Government has 220 agro-diagnosis centres on the cards. These centers and the villages affiliated to them would be connected through the information technology network, Agriculture Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said. BJP State unit president, MP, Suryabhan Vahadane laid the corner stone for a Rs 16 lakh agro-diagnosis centre at Kokangaon in Sangamner taluka.
