Cong men suspended
Vadodara Congress leaders Chandubhai Thakkar, Jaykant Patel, Mahesh Patel and Sudhakar Patel and Surendranagar Congress leaders Khetshi Patel, Navin Jovanputra have been suspended from the Vadodara and Surendranagar district Congress committees, a Congress release has said. Sources in the party said the members of Vadodara and Surendranagar Congress committees had been suspended for working against the Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Chotaudepur, Narain Rathwa.

Water scarcity
Dhandhuka taluka panchayat president Harpalsinh Jattubha Jhala has demanded that Dhandhuka, Raipur and Barwada talukas of the Ahmedabad district be declared as drought-hit areas. In a letter to Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel, Jhala said that the underground water in the said talukas has gone down and village ponds have gone dry due to insufficient rain. He has also demanded not only should more water be supplied to these talukas, but job opportunities should also be created there so that peasants who are hard-pressed due to crop failure could earn their livelihood.

4-day exhibition
A four-day exhibition on Posters of Children Have Rights8217; and books on Human Rights and Governance8217; will be organised by the British Council at the British Library on the occasion of Meena: National Girl Child Week8217; with the help of UNICEF Gujarat from September 28, a British Library release has said. The exhibition will be inaugurated on September 25 at the British Library followed by a talk on Girls8217; Rights8217;.

GU results
Gujarat University will declare the results of all MPhil theory, except commerce examinations conducted in April this year on Friday. The result not include commerce subject, says a press-note from the university.

Internet quiz
The Gujarat Internet Users Group is organising a mega Internet quiz at Tagore Hall on October 9. The event sponsored by Intel and supported by Internet service providers is designed as an interactive type multimedia show. Prizes ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 30,000 have been anounced for contestants as well as audiences. Details are available at the GIUG Website on giug.org.in
