PANCHKULA, Oct 3: The Haryana Government Retired Officers Welfare Association has urged the Haryana Chief Minister to implement the remaining recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission as accepted but not implemented by the previous government.

Association president T.R. Tuli said the last government had not fully implemented the recommendations which included fixation of notional pay/pension and family pension on January 1, 1986, allowing pension at 50 per cent and family pension at 30 per cent of the minimum of the revised scale of the last post held, from January 1, 1986, treatment of 20 per cent DA as DP for gratuity purpose to the pensioners who retired between September 16, 1993 to March 31, 1995, on the Central pattern, and the sanction of fixed medical allowance of Rs 250 per month to both husband and wife pensioners at par with Punjab, to cope with the Medicare needs in old age.

Cultural event held in Sector 8
The Panchkula Welfare Association, Sector 8, organised its annual cultural programme here yesterday. The programme was presented by the students of DAV Senior Secondary School, Woodlands House School and the children of the Sector 8 residents. HUDA Administrator Sumita Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.

The programme included a blend of songs, dances, jokes, couplets and a minute8217;s silence was also observed to pay tribute to the Kargil martyrs. The HUDA Administrator Sumita Singh while speaking on the occasion remembered Mahatma Gandhi and also announced that soon a Railway Reservation Centre will be opened in the Sector 8 market. Also best teachers and best students from both the schools were honoured on the occasion. The best teacher awards went to Nirmal Gupta of DAV Sr Sec School and Subha Sarkar of the Woodlands House School, while the best student awards were bagged by Sandeep Kapoor of DAV Sr Sec School and Yamini Vashista of Woodlands House School.
