IA lift Ranjit hockey title

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited BPCL would be ruing missed opportunities for the 1-0 loss to Indian Airlines in the final of the Maharaja Rajit Singh Hockey Tournament.

Though it was IA that went ahead in the 18th minute, when a reverse flick from Sammer Dad found the right-hand corner of the goal, it was BPCL who dominated the first half. They had at least five scoring opportunities and most them could have been converted easily. Going into the match without couple of its key players, the airlines team had a simple but effective strategy 8212;- give the opposition the least number of penalty corners. And they succeeded in this as BPCL got only one penalty corner in the entire game and in the 56th minute.
