Roshan Baig, who resigned from the S.M. Krishna Cabinet, has said he will face all those who levelled charges against him in the stamp paper scam and will not flee. He told The Indian Express from Mecca, where he has gone on a Haj pilgrimage, that he resigned from the ministry as he could no longer bear the ‘‘pain inflicted on him’’ by countless allegations day in and day out.

‘‘I had decided to do this long ago. But I tolerated everything because of the Haj trips. I had decided to act only after the last flight for Haj left. The last flight left on Saturday and I firmed up my decision and despatched my resignation letter to the Chief Minister,’’ Baig said yesterday.

He said he will come back and continue with his work. ‘‘There is no point answering these charges because I have been doing that for the last two years to no avail.’’ Asked if he will stay away from the Assembly, Baig said he was not able to attend the session because of personal reasons and not to show disrespect to the House.
