.

A proud player to lead his country on a cricket field, India ODI captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni recalled how he would attend the Independence Day function at his school every year and pay respect to the fluttering of tri-colour.

8220;I remember there used to be flag hoisting in my school. I attended the function for 14 years from nursery to class XII. We used to celebrate that, we also used to get a box of sweets,8221; Dhoni said expressing his patriotic feelings a day ahead of India8217;s Independence Day.

He said as a child he visualised 8220;there were lots of people who walked on and then there was a long fight and after that we got independence8221;.

8220;That is a moment of freedom which we should enjoy. In reality we realise what its importance was. We should remember those who contributed for the independence of the country. People lost their lives for it. We have to recall every thing,8221; Dhoni said.
