
Two-wheeler major Hero Honda announced on Saturday that the flash strike by 2,000 contract labourers at its Gurgaon plant has been called off 8216;8216;unilaterally and peacefully.8217;8217;
In a statement the company said that 8216;8216;normalcy has been restored in the plant with the commencement of production this morning and the plant will operate at full capacity.8217;8217; The strike which was called on April 10 had crippled production at the plant.
The company added that production at its Dharuhera plant has been stepped up to account for the loss in capacity during the strike. Further the company has agreed to some of the 8216;8216;genuine demands8217;8217; of the workers like issuing identity cards, opening of bank accounts and ATM facility.
On the primary demand for regularisation of workers, the company has said that it will follow the policy wherein some workers will be regularised from time to time on the basis of capability, seniority and requirement. 8216;8216;We have promised that wages will be considered favourably like it was done last April. We already pay the highest wage of
Rs 6,700 to each worker and will revise the wages very shortly,8217;8217; said vice president and plant head, Hero Honda, Vikram Kasbekar.
