PUNE, May 21: The nine-member Heritage Conservation Committee, appointed by the Pune Municipal Corporation to identify the structures of historic and architectural importance in the city, would finalise the list of grade `C’ heritage structures within next one and half month, committee chairman P S Palande announced today.

Talking to newspersons, Palande said that the committee has already forwarded the list of grade `A’ and grade `B’ heritage structures to the municipal administration.

According to the committee report, there are 66 heritage structures which fall in grade `A’ category – structures of prime historic importance like the Shaniwarwada and 51 heritage structures of grade `B’ category – structures of historic and architectural importance, but, of lesser historic value as compared with the grade `A’ category structures.

The grade `C’ category heritage structures, having community value, but, which also need preservation, will be prepared within one and half month, Palande said adding that the committee has already launched a survey to identify such structures.

In a bid to make the Puneites aware about the importance of the heritage structures the PMC has organised an exhibition of photographs of 70 such historic buildings and precincts at the Balgandharva Rangmandir exhibition hall from May 21 till May 23. The exhibition will be inaugurated tomorrow morning by Municipal Commissioner Rajiv Agarwal. It will remain open to public between 9.30 am and 7.30 pm.
