PATIALA, JUNE 17: Patiala district police have decided to implement the Motor Vehicles Act as ordered by the Supreme Court and challan persons found violating these rules from June 20.

Acting District Chief Narjinder Singh Sekhon said here today that the police will come into action for ensuring the proper implementation of the rules related to the Motor Vehicles Act from June 20. As per the rules, helmets have now been made compulsory for all two-wheeler drivers except those wearing turbans. Even pillion riders will have to abide by this rule. The use of tinted glasses in four-wheelers has been banned and vehicles with films will have to face the challaning procedure. Sekhon said the police will also challan vehicles with fancy lights or unauthorised red lights. He said the police had already started its public awareness programme in Patiala and through the police address system, it was now educating people regarding the implementation of the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act.

Forum to organise rallies to protest Pak intrusion THE Rashtriya Ekta and Akhandta Forum has decided to organise protest rallies and demonstrations against the Pakistani support to infiltrators in the Kargil sector.

Dalip Singh Biker, president of the Forum, in a statement here today said the Forum has decided to organise protest rallies and demonstrations at the district level in the state shortly. The programme has been chalked out, the final date has not yet been finalised. The Forum had also organised a meeting to pay homage to the heros of Kargil and on this occasion, the members took a pledge to make any sacrifice to safeguard the unity and integrity of the nation. The meeting strongly condemned Pakistan8217;s support to the infiltrators and said Pakistan would have to pay a heavy price if war was imposed on the country.
