NEW DELHI, JUNE 4: Reflecting the continuing depression on the manufacturing sector, the sales of commercial vehicles and multi utility vehicles dipped by 42 per cent in April this year.
Multi utility vehicles, now in for a price hike, thanks to the excise duty revision, registered a 21 per cent decrease in sales with figures standing at 7,011 units as against 8,502 units sold in the same period last year.
However, the worst hit segment was the heavy and light commercial vehicles which fell from 10,410 units in April last year to 5,963 units in the same month this year.
