The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notices to Haryana and three universities including Kurukshetra University on a petition filed by four students. The students, three from Haryana and one from Patiala, have demanded that they should be granted admission in B.Ed regular by Haryana for academic session of 2008-09. The petitioners have demanded admission in view of the fact that there are around 28,000 seats lying vacant in various educational institutions in the state.

In May 41,103 candidates appeared for the entrance test against a total number of 53,000 seats available with Kurukshetra University. The university had declared the results after conducting a common entrance test. Out of 31,000 candidates, only 25,000 took admission in B.Ed regular. The four students, who have moved the High Court, did not appear for the common entrance test but have demanded admission for B.Ed course since so many seats are lying vacant. Taking note of the contentions, the High Court has issued notices to the university and the state.
