CHANDIGARH, July 9: Traffic police told to ensure pedestrian crossing (zebra-crossing) on all roads in front of schools in UT, within 15 days.n No school bus to exceed speed-limit of 50 kmph. Separate stops on main and inner roads. Refresher courses for conductors and drivers once every two years.

Drivers and conductors to wear uniform and carry name plates. Drivers should have at least five years’ experience and should not have been challaned more than three times.

n Buses to carry boards of schools and the route to be covered. HC wants yellow colour for buses. This could be introduced gradually but compliance must within reasonable time.

n One-way traffic around schools to be a regular feature during school hours, especially the areas where Carmel Convent, Sacred Heart and St John’s are situated. Schools told to control traffic with own manpower.
