VADODARA, May 3: Chief Warden of M S University hostels N L Singh has said that those found guilty of manhandling M V Hall warden Kirti Badola would be rusticated from the hostels. Meanwhile, students submitted a memorandum to Vice-Chancellor Anil Kane, demanding that the warden withdraw the police complaint.

Badola lodged a complaint with the Fatehganj police on Saturday night following an alleged assault by students after he questioned the presence of a girl in one of the student8217;s rooms.

Students, however, tried to explain the incident by saying one of the boy8217;s uncle and aunt had come to visit him. Singh, however, said permission was necessary to take any guests up to a room.

Talking to Express Newsline, the chief warden said the Hostel Disciplinary Committee met on Monday and decided that if, after an inquiry conducted by talking to the students, those accused were found guilty, they would be rusticated.

The incident occurred in his presence, Singh said, adding that the crowd was so huge, they were unable to do anything.

Meanwhile, in a memorandum, student leaders Nitin Patel, Hiren Mehta, Jasmin Shah and others questioned how the police complaint came to be lodged without the sanction of the VC or the Registrar. In an hour-long drama, a section of students raised slogans against the M V Hall warden.

Later, the student leaders claimed that the VC had assured them the police complaint would be withdrawn. Kane, however, told Express Newsline he had given no such assurance. 8220;I have only told them that injustice would not be done to anyone,8221; he said.
