Former Punjab Minister and senior Congress leader Jagmohan Singh Kang today flayed the SAD-BJP regime for its apathy and lackadaisical attitude towards 8220;Saka Chamkaur8221;, a theme park project envisaged by the previous Congress government at Chamkaur Sahib, to commemorate the tercentenary of martyrdom of Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh.

In a statement, the All India Congress Committee member said the attempts, urging Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to complete this historic project, have failed to elicit any positive response.

8220;It is ironical that Akalis, who claim to be a panthic party, are insensitive to this religious and historic project,8221; he rued.

He claimed that previous Congress government had decided to set up a world class monument. 8220;The first phase of this project was completed and inaugurated by former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh, but ever since the present regime took over, the work on this project came to a standstill,8221; he said. 8220;The Sikh Heritage Complex in Anandpur Sahib, initiated by the Akali government during 1999, was completed by previous Congress government, in the same spirit this project should also be completed,8221; he demanded.

He said the tourism projects, initiated by the previous Congress government, duly sanctioned by the Union Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Ambika Soni, were either stalled or carried on at a slow pace.
