PUNE, Oct 29: A 42-year-old history-sheeter from Solapur bazaar area in Pune Cantonment, died after suffering high degree burns early this morning.

Riyaz Ibrahim Shaikh was spotted near the staff quarters at the Sassoon Hospital with his clothes on fire after an electric transformer exploded around 7.30 am. Some policemen from the Bund Garden police station who rushed to the spot after being tipped off, admitted him to the hospital.

Later, Shaikh recorded a dying declaration before a magistrate claiming he had been set afire by his broter-in-law Abdul Sattar, nephew Sadique and friend Salim at around 11 pm on Thursday. Shaikh also claimed that he collapsed after going to the Sassoon hospital in an autorickshaw.
