
CHANDIGARH, Nov 19: Haryana Home Minister Mani Ram Godara today called upon the people to rise above parochial differences of caste, creed and colour and keep the unity and integrity of the nation.
He was speaking at a function organised here to mark Quami Ekta Diwas on the occasion of the 82nd birthday of late Indira Gandhi.Godara said the great leader died while safeguarding the integrity, unity and dignity of the nation. He said the members of her family had also sacrificed their lives for the sake of the nation and the day called us to renew our pledge to maintain the unity of the country.
The minister administered a pledge to senior officers and employees of the state government to preserve and strengthen the freedom and integrity of the nation. They also pledged not to resort to violence and continue to try to settle all disputes related to religion, language or other political or economic grievances by peaceful and constitutional means.
L. M. Jain, principal secretary to the Chief Minister, and other senior officers of the state government were also present.
