CHANDIGARH, Nov 12: Interviews for appointments to six posts of Junior Radiographic Technicians being held by the Sector 32 Government Medical College and Hospital have, once again, come under cloud, with a few candidates alleging that these interviews are quot;illegalquot;.

Nine of the twelve candidates called for the November 15 interview are ineligible for the post as they do not fulfil the advertised criteria and have been selected for the interview quot;only to please certain seniorsquot;, candidates allege. And according to the hospital sources, the appointments are being kept a closely guarded secret, with only a few being taken into confidence.

Interestingly, these posts were advertised in the national and local dailies with the largest circulation in February and interviews fixed for March.

In a complaint made to the Home Secretary, Advisor to the UT Administrator, Punjab Governor-cum-UT Administrator and Union Health Minister, one of the candidates alleged that the people called for the interview were ineligible and lacking the requisite experience. Following the complaint, the interviews were stalled till further date and an inquiry was instituted to ascertain the facts of the allegations.

Surprisingly, despite the above, the same candidates are now being called for interviews scheduled for November 15. A candidate, on condition of anonymity, said, quot;The posts have not been re-advertised after February. And all the technicians that have become eligible for the same post during this time stand to lose. The same applicants are being considered even now.quot;

The Head of the Department and Director Principal, when contacted, were not available for comment, while other officials refused to divulge any details. But according to sources, the February advertisement did not even fulfil the reservation roaster according to which two posts for SCs, three for OBCs and one post for the general category should have been advertised. While only one post was advertised for SCs, two for OBC and three for the general category.
