Yugoslav club chief shot dead

BELGRADE: Jusa Bulic, the president of the Yugoslav Division A8217; club Zeleznik Belgrade, was shot dead last night in an apparent gangland killing, Yugoslav media reported.

Bulic, his bodyguard and a friend died after two masked gunmen armed with Kalashnikov rifles unleashed a hail of bullets on them as they were leaving a cafe in a Belgrade suburb. Bulic8217;s brother and a fifth member of the group were seriously wounded, and the assassins escaped in a car.

When he took over Zeleznik in 1992, Bulic steered the club from a minor league to Yugoslav Division A8217;. He owned a nightclub located in the club8217;s grounds and two betting shops.

Inter8217;s hopes rests on Ronaldo

PARIS: Ronaldo will be hoping to settle Inter Milan8217;s score with the Uefa Cup here tomorrow night when last season8217;s losing finalists face Serie A8217; rivals Lazio for the trophy.

Coetzer is Chase Player of the Month

STANFORD: South Africa8217;s Amanda Coetzer, who won the Family Circle Cup title at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina yesterday was named the Chase Player of the Month for April.

She followed up her Family Circle Cup victory, by reaching the semifinals of the Bausch and Lomb Championships. She finished the month with an 8-1 singles record and is currently ranked No 4 on the Corel WTA Tour.
