Maradona in Uruguay ICU
BUENOS AIRES: Former Argentine World Cup-winning captain Diego Maradona was in intensive care suffering from heart problems in the Cantegrill Private Clinic in Punta Del Este, Uruguay, it was reported by Argentine Television on Tuesday.
A hospital staffer said Maradona had been admitted suffering from hypertension and arrythmia. “He is stable but a little excited,” a hospital staffer said. Maradona was recently voted Argentine sportsman of the 20th century.
Francis to join Army for training
LONDON: British heavyweight champion Julius Francis will join the British Army in his attempt to beat former undisputed World Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in Manchester on January 29.
The 35-year-old, who won the British title in 1997 and has 21 wins including 15 inside the distance and seven defeats, will set up his training camp at the Army Boxing gymnasium in Aldershot.
Coventry suffer blow due to brace by Flo
LONDON: Coventry drew 2-2 with Chelsea inthe English Premiership Tuesday night as they proved to be the most vulnerable soccer club here in the moments after scoring as Norwegian Torre Andre Flo twice equalised.Twice Coventry went ahead in second half, through Belgian Cedric Roussel and then Republic of Ireland star Robbie Keane, and on both occasions, Flo equalised within seconds. Coventry coach Gordon Strachan twice choked on his own goal celebrations as Flo darted through to spoil things. Strachan did admit they had done well to earn four points in their last two games against Arsenal and Coventry.
Flo now has five goals from his last three games and his 13-goal total equals last season’s haul.
