GHS-37 lads win opening match

CHANDIGARH, Aug 30: Government High School, Sector 37 blanked Government Model School, Sector 35, 5-0 in the opening match of the under-14 football tournament for Shivalik Trophy at the Government Model School in Sector 23, here today.

GHS-37 lads dominated the contest and shot three goals in the first half. Kuldeep opened the account for his team in the 7th minute of play when he beat the rival goalkeeper Sunil. Three minutes later Pardeep consolidated the lead (2-0). Pardeep also shot the third goal for his team in a goalmouth melee (3-0).

After the change of ends Pradeep beat the advancing keeper Sunil to increase the margin of victory (4-0). And in the dying minutes of the game Kuldeep slotted home his second and team’s fifth goal.

In another match Government School Sector 15 beat Guru Harkishan Public School-40 by three goals to nil.

Rahul shot twice while Naginder scored one goal for the winners.
