Germany reached the final of the Champions Trophy by beating Malaysia 3-2 today, with two penalty corner conversions by Florian Keller. Germany lead the round-robin standings with 16 points from seven matches and are assured of playing in Sunday8217;s final even if they lose their last match against Australia on Saturday.

Other teams vying for the gold medal are South Korea with 11 points, Australia with 10 and the Netherlands with nine. Next come Spain with eight, Britain with six, Pakistan five and Malaysia one.

The top two teams play for the gold, while teams finishing third and fourth will play for bronze.

South Korea, who drew 3-3 with Pakistan earlier today, are favored to beat Britain on Saturday and advance to the final.

Australia drew 3-3 with the Netherlands and must beat Germany and hope South Korea lose or draw against Britain to qualify for the final.

Keller8217;s two penalty corner goals in the 25th and 35th minutes ended Malaysia8217;s stiff resistance, while Matthias Witthaus8217; 36th-minute goal took Germany to a 3-0 lead.

Malaysia fought back with goals by S Selvaraju in the 54th and Ismail Abu in the 62nd, but still fell to their fifth loss of the tournament.
