CHANDIGARH, March 3: Nearly 350 students of the Government College for Girls, Sector 42, were awarded prizes for their achievements in academic, sports and co-curricular activities, at the 17th annual prize distribution of the college, here today.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest, UT Home and Education Secretary Anuradha Gupta pointed out that it requires traditional and exceptional capabilities, coupled with courage to effectively shoulder the responsibilities of home and work. She stressed that while beauty and elegance are important, the emphasis should be on the strength of quot;body, mind and spirit.8221;

Dimple Rani won the roll of honour for standing first in Sanskrit hons in the university exams. While college colours were given to 34 girls, 14 girls were given mementos in sports, merit certificates were awarded to seven students for sports, 24 for scores in university exams and 223 for the recently held house tests. Two certificates were also awarded for NSS activities.
