CHANDIGARH, Nov 16:Government College, Hoshiarpur secured 27 points to win the title in the Panjab University Inter-College boxing championship held at Sector 46 Sports Complex today. DAV College, Chandigarh and DAV College, Hoshiarpur with 16 and 15.5 points got the second and third positions respectively.

Most of the final bouts were one-sided affairs. However, the encounter between Deepak Sharma of GNN Doraha and Rajesh Kumar of GHG Khalsa College, Gursadhar, in the feather weight was the quickest of all. Rajesh won the bout in 15 seconds of the first round as referee stop the contest.

Love Kumar and Rustom, both of GC Hoshiarpur also won their bout in the first round in the fly and bantam weight categories respectively.Two bouts which lasted full three rounds were in light fly and welter weight sections.

In the light fly Anand of DAV College, Chandigarh, won on points while Vicky Sharma of AS Khanna with points in welter weight.

Light welter: 1 Rajat, 2 Sanjeev Sharma, 3 Gurinderpreet Singh and Hardial Singh. Welter: 1 Vicky Sharma, 2 Raman Kumar, 3 Sukhjinder Singh. Light middle: 1 Pankaj, 2 Ashwani Sihag, 3 Amritpal Singh and Varinder Dangi. Middle: 1 Rakesh, 2 Gurjeet Singh. Light heavy: 1 Ramandeep, 2 Rakesh Kumar, 3 Prit Pal and Kuldeep Singh.
