Gaekwad feud resurfaces, this time over construction

The divide between the scions of the Gaekwad royal family of the erstwhile Baroda State, Ranjitsinh Gaekwad and Sangramsinh Gaekwad, has once again come out in the open.

The divide between the scions of the Gaekwad royal family of the erstwhile Baroda State, Ranjitsinh Gaekwad and Sangramsinh Gaekwad, has once again come out in the open.

Sangramsinh8217;s son Pratapsinh has filed an application under the Right to Information RTI Act to the Vadodara Municipal Corporation VMC, inquiring about the Gaekwads carrying out a new construction in the Laxmi Vilas Palace premises recently.

C B Patel, VMC Town Development Officer, said: 8220;On September 22, Pratapsinh enquired about the Gaekwads constructing new buildings in the palace premises at Moti Baug area. Following this, we served a notice on the Gaekwads, who replied that there are no new constructions in Moti Baug.8221;

Mahendrasinh Chauhan, Administrator, Gaekwad Baroda Golf Club, said, 8220;We have responded to the queries saying that no such activity is going on in the Palace premises.8221;
