8226; This refers to your editorial 8216;Wrong, Minister8217; IE, September 21. Natwar Singh does not seem to be able to articulate India8217;s interests to the world. He has fumbled, from Nepal to Israel to US to Iran. It8217;s high time folks in Parliament put some hard questions to him. In the recent faux pas involving Indian Shia Muslims in India8217;s Iran policy, he is using the faulty premise the Congress based its policy towards Israel on, during Nehru8217;s time and later. He seems to be forever frozen in time and frowning in countenance. We need an MEA with professional thinking and friendly countenance.

The people, silly

8226; The encounter in New York between Pervez Musharraf and Manmohan Singh ended in a draw. The tenacious attack of the General on Manmohan Singh8217;s cordial disagreement on the question of withdrawal of troops till peace returns in J038;K reveals the impasse. Pakistan is still dancing to the old tune of 8216;8216;no terrorist camps8217;8217; in its territory and asking India to pull out forces from Kashmir. Still, optimism cannot be absolutely ruled out. A ray of hope shines through the eyes of people on both sides of LoC.

Mallya8217;s ire

8226; Apropos of the reports on the United Breweries chief Vijay Mallya slamming Bangalore infrastructure, the simple solution for corporates is to withhold payment of taxes to local and federal governments. In order not to fall foul of the law, simply deposit the taxes due in a 8216;8216;trust account8217;8217; with a provision that the funds would be released as the phases of infrastructure programmes are fulfilled.

8226; If Vijay Mallya feels 8216;8216;ashamed8217;8217; to belong to Bangalore, we can only sympathise with his depression. But should he want to come out of it, he could just leave. Because India is even more ashamed and depressed to have unwilling citizens like him.

8212; Jolly Delhi

8226; I fully agree with Mallya on Bangalore8217;s infrastructure. Pathetic and congested roads, pollution, corrupt officials, incomplete flyovers and highways, poor electricity and water supply and a non-existent public transport system8230; welcome to Bangalore, IT hub of the world.

Primary divisions

8226; As Sudheendra Kulkarni writes in 8216;Seize the crisis8217; IE, September 21, it8217;s time for the non-Congress parties to regroup. But the truth is that at prese nt the political groupings are based on BJP and non-BJP parties. Most of the parties have a motto of not allowing BJP to come to power again and that serves as a glue to bind them. Although the RSS has served as a platform for the BJP it still does have its own support base in certain parts of India. Perhaps the RSS has not really managed to sell itself to the wider masses but that cannot be held against its quest for growing stronger.
