Classic comeback
OCTOBER generally marks the end of the dull summer months and the beginning of much-awaited cultural activity. And this also the time for the much-awaited Chandigarh Sangeet Sammelan, which for the last three decades has been giving Chandigarh a musical treat. The credit for this venture goes to Kanta Saroop Krishen, who together with some like-minded people thought of the Indian National Theatre, the society that brings this cultural feast to the people of the city. This year8217;s sammelan, which begins on October 24, features bright new faces like Ranjani Ramachandran, Arshad Ali, sitarist Deba Prosad Chakravorty from Kolkata and vocalist Raja Kale from Mumbai. The final day of the sammelan October 26, will showcase flutist Prof Ravinder Singh and Ashwini Bhide Deshpande. Admission to the sessions is free and Indian National Theatre urges patrons to introduce their children to our heritage and culture.
