Forget KHAM. For caretaker Chief Minister Narendra Modi relies more on his KHAW — Kshatriya, Harijan, Adivasi and Women — vote-bank. His Gaurav Yatra covered the Kshatriya- and Dalit-dominated seats in the first two phases. Now, phases III and IV will concentrate on tribals and women.
The third leg will commence from Unai Mata temple in tribal Valsad district on September 21. And the fourth — that kicks off on September 28 from Ambaji — will woo women. The party has organised a women’s convention at Ambaji that day.
The third leg will cover the entire tribal south Gujarat. On the inaugural day, a public rally will be held at Unai.
Jayanti Kevat, a convenor of the south Gujarat phase of the Yatra, says, ‘‘We are planning a big rally at Unai. One lakh people are expected.’’
‘‘We are targetting people according to their areas. First in Phagvel, there were the bapus, then Dalits in the next phase and in south Gujarat, the tribals. That is the reason why we have selected interior areas,’’ says C.R. Patil, another convenor.
BJP’s Ahmedabad city unit chief Mayaben Kodnani said the Ambaji function “will be flagged off by BJP national chief of women’s cell Kanta Nalavade”.
