
VADODARA, Feb 14: The Food Corporation of India class II, III and IV staff in the State are joining a nationwide stir on Tuesday to press for their long-pending demands, including time-bound promotions, revision of staff norms and several other issues.
According to a statement issued here by the State unit of the Food Corporation of India Executive Staff Union, the agitation would begin with the staff wearing black badges throughout the working day as well as hold demonstrations at all the regional and district offices in the State.
This would be followed by programmes like dharna at headquarters and zonal offices, relay fast and even indefinite hunger strike while the agitation would continue for well over one and a half months. The staff members have also decided to take out protest processions along with their family members throughout the country.
The union has threatened that all the 65,000 class II, III and IV employees of the Food Corporation of India in the country would go on an indefinite strike from March 26 if all these agitational programmes fail to evoke any positive response from the government.
