No more horns, gongs and microphones. People’s representatives are devising fresh ways to protest in the Assembly. On the opening day of the fifth session of the Assembly, it was Trinamool Congress MLA Sonali Guha who stole the show. She arrived in the gear worn by those conducting culling operations. With protective goggles on top of her spectacles, gloves and socks on, Guha managed to monopolise the attention of photographers who were there to cover Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi’s address.

Guha, during earlier sessions, had attempted some equally-striking stunts. “We had used whistles and horns to protest against Nandigram incident last year. Today, I protested against the ineffective handling of the bird-flu,” said Guha.
