8226; Tavleen Singh8217;s column, 8216;8216;BJP high priests hand over crown to Queen, family8217;8217;, was the worst article I8217;ve read on an editorial page. If she describes the readers8217; response to her column as 8216;8216;hate mail8217;8217;, then her column can only be described as a 8216;8216;hate article8217;8217;, dripping with venom and sarcasm.

8226; With Uma Bharati calling Sonia Gandhi 8216;8216;firangi aurat8217;8217; and Tavleen describing her as 8216;8216;Noorjehan of Number 108217;8217;, it looks like they are both competing with each other in 8216;8216;name-calling8217;8217; instead of focussing on upgrading our political debate.

8226; In his column, 8216;8216;Investors: The take-off and landing mode8217;8217;, N K Singh has rightly enumerated the major concerns/ issues facing the investors in the present scenario. These issues, if resolved by the PM at the right time, would go a long way in assuring the investing community, especially the foreign investors, that India is a ripe economy where they can put in their money. But the posturing of the Left parties, led as they are by octogenarian leaders living in the early 20th century climate of Marxian philosophy, are sending the wrong signals to the investors. As long as the Government is weighed down by the Left, and as long as the PM and the Congress do not call their bluff, the foreign investments will not materialise.

8226; Soli Sorabjee advocates the inclusion of voting as a fundamental duty in Article 51-A of our Constitution. But isn8217;t that a violation of the citizen8217;s fundamental rights? If I find that none of the candidates deserve my vote 8212; either because he is incompetent, tainted or because his party is not worth it 8212; why should I have to go to the polling booth and cast a vote against my conscience?
