For years now, women’s cricket body in India has been doggedly trying to tie up with the BCCI, but to no avail. With the recent change of guard at the helm in the men’s cricket body, the Women’s Cricket Association of India (WCAI) has finally decided to make a fresh bid.
Giving itself a week’s time to present its case before the Sharad Pawar-led BCCI top brass, the WCAI will seek more specific help this time round — setting up base at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.
WCAI secretary Shubhangi Kulkarni gave a lowdown of what exactly the women’s body is expecting from the BCCI. “Instead of requesting a mere merger, we want the BCCI to support us with infrastructure,” she said.
