Etambe pockets a double

MUMBAI, July 22: Top-seeded international Nagsen Etambe quelled the challenge of Nandakumar Mhatre 25-23, 25-12 in the men singles final, to complete a double in the 37th Kshatriya Union Club open district ranking carrom tournament at Vanmali Hall yesterday. It was Etambe8217;s seventh title at this tournament, sponsored by Philips, Colgate Palmolive, Indian Oil, LIC, Union Bank of India and Saraswat Co-op Bank. Etambe had earlier captained Bank of India to the team title.

Mhatre got off to a flying 10-0 start in the final, before Etambe rallied to win 25-23, in front of a 1000-strong crowd.
