The Escorts vs Naresh Trehan battle has put a question mark on Delhi Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna8217;s role. A former chairman of Ranbaxy, Khanna apparently asked Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul to consider taking action against the heart surgeon. Given Paul8217;s experience in dealing with VVIPs, he is learnt to have advised that it was better to keep the police out of corporate matters. But a dogged Khanna apparently called up DCPs, and so frantic were his efforts that the matter reached Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and then the Congress high-command. The message came clear 8212; leave corporates to fight their own battles.
