CHANDIGARH, MARCH 16: Eco and Delta Companies scored constrasting wins in their league encounters to enter the final of the Central Reserve Police Force Inter-Company handball tournament being played at DAV Senior Secondary School in Sector 8. Eco got past Headquarters 10-6 while Delta thrashed Alfa 24-3, to assert their supremacy in the meet.
For Eco Company Tilak Raj and Sat Pal combined well and scored most of the points. Tilak got four while Sat Pal scored three. Paul Raj also contributed two points to the score.
Ompal and Rakesh scored three goals each for the loser.
Delta team dominated the proceeding from the word go and were leading by 15-1 at the break.
In the second session, Amar Singh coordinated with Anil Kumar to increase the margin. of victory. Amar Singh with 11 points top scored for the team. Anil and Sapan Kumar got 8 and 5 points respectively for the winners. Bhim Ghosh 2 and Arun Kumar 1 scored for Alfa.
Seven teams are participating in the meet and the matches are being played on league cum-knock out basis. The final will be played tomorrow.
Weightlifting trials
Trials to select Chandigarh men8217;s and women8217;s teams for the forthcoming National weightlifting meet slated to be held at Asansol West Bengal from April 21 to 23, will be held on March 20 at Weightlifting Coaching Centre in Sector 30 at 11 a.m., under the aegis of the Chandigarh Amateur Weightlifting Association.
