
Following complaints of booth capturing, the Election Commission on Wednesday announced re-polling at four booths in Sonawari and Kargil constituencies on November 20.
An official spokesman of the J-K Government said that re-polling would be held in 60-Pushwari-A and 61-Pushwari-B polling stations of Sonawari Assembly constituency and 48-Sailiskote M and 91-Apati in 49-Kargil Assembly constituency.
According to the ECI Secretary, Standhope Yuhlung, the decision of re-polling was taken on the basis of the reports of the returning officers and the observers and also taking into account all material circumstances.
8220;The ECI has, under sub-section a of Section 68 of the Jammu and Kashmir Representation of people Act, 1957, declared the polling taken on November 17 as void and has fixed November 20 Thursday as the date for fresh polling from 8 am to 4 pm at the said polling stations,8221; Yuhlung said.
The Peoples Democratic Party PDP had asked for re polling at five polling stations in Sonwari constituency.
