MUMBAI, MARCH 29: The Indian pair of Ashim Mongia and Ramachandran Mahesh had a great start to their campaign in the Enterprise Class World Sailing Championships, winning both the opening races being held at Saldanha Bay, South Africa.

According to information available here, Mongia and Mahesh, who are teaming up for the first time in the Enterprise Pairs, won the first race when the winds were light at eight knots and the sea calm. The next day, when the winds gusted up to 18 knots and the sea became choppy, the fortunes of the Indians did not change as they won again to log two penalty points after two races.

The other Indian pair of Naresh Yadav and Girdharilal Yadav, the National champions, also had a good start. They finished fifth in both the races to keep the fourth position overall.

In both the races, the course was shortened by one triangle. The conventional course for a world championships is three triangles and beat to finish.

Prior to the World Championships, Mongia-Mahesh had participatedin South Africa8217;s National Championships a five-race build-up to the Worlds.They had problems with their boom in the first three races. After having sorted that, they won the fourth and fifth races.

The Yadavs also participated in the championships and had four did not starts8217; in the first four races and had a did not finish8217; in the fifth.Overall standings after two races: 1.
