Billy Stelling took three wickets Thursday to help the Netherlands restrict Scotland to 136 in the World Cup Group A match. The Dutch paceman was only included in the team when 37-year-old captain Luuk van Troost stood down, denying himself an international farewell.

At one stage, Stelling had figures of 3-4 from four overs to leave Scotland teetering at 15-4. He finished with 3-12 off eight overs, while Mark Jonkman claimed 2-22 and Muhammad Kashif 2-29.

Australian-born fingerspinner and No 10 batsman Glenn Rogers top-scored with 26, with only Neil McCallum 24, Colin Smith 19, John Blain 18 not out and Ryan Watson 16 getting starts. Both teams are 0-2 in the group and cannot advance to the Super 8 stage.

Scotland8217;s batting woes came just two days after posting 186 against South Africa. The Netherlands8217; new captain, wicketkeeper Jeroen Smits, won the toss and sent Scotland in to bat at Warner Park. Scotland captain Craig Wright, who missed his team8217;s seven-wicket loss to South Africa on Tuesday as he was attending the funeral of his aunt at home, returned in place of Dewald Nel. Opening batsman Fraser Watts dropped out with a groin injury and was replaced by Navdeep Poonia.

One run later, Haq played around a ball by Darron Reekers and was bowled to leave Scotland on 9-2.

Stelling took two wickets in two balls in the seventh over to continue the collapse. He had Gavin Hamilton 2 lbw with an inswinger and then did the same to Dougie Brown 0, and Scotland was 15-4.

It could have been worse 8212; van Bunge dropped another sitter, from Neil McCallum on 3 off Stelling, with Scotland starting to recover at 32-4.

But next over, Ryan Watson firmly drove a ball from Tim de Leede straight back to the bowler and he held the catch at the second attempt for Scotland to have lost its fifth wicket. Smith and McCallum put on 38 runs to partially resurrect the innings, before the next four wickets went for 59 runs after some late lusty hitting from Rogers and Blain.
