VADODARA, June 23: Officials of the District Supply Office inspected two fair price shops in the city and seized rationed items worth approximately Rs 6,300 from their outlets on Wednesday.

According to an official spokesman, the shop of one Kamlesh Shah in Yamuna Nagar area on Waghodia Road was inspected and various gross variations in the records of stock and sale of rationed items like kerosene, wheat, rice and sugar were detected. Stocks worth about Rs 3390 were subsequently seized.

The spokesman added that the shop of one Karamchand Bhavnani was also inspected in the Sadhana Nagar Society in Karelibaug area and similar irregularities were detected, leading to seizure of items worth Rs 2971. Further investigation to ascertain whether the shopkeepers sold these items in the black market was on, he added.
