AMBALA, March 6: Two policemen including a head constable from police station Shehzadpur were sent to Police Lines on the allegation of harassing and beating up of a BJP worker under a drunk state yesterday.

According to information received here, head constable Zile Singh and constable Radhey Shyam were sent to Police Lines under the orders from Mewa Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police Naraingarh.

The BJP worker Shiv Kumar who works as a commission agent, alleged that he was first insulted and roughed up in front of his shop and then taken to the police station where he was maltreated and beaten up.

On hearing this news, the traders led by the BJP district unit Vice President and General Secretary Ram Kumar, gathered in front of the police station and condemned the police action. They also threatened to block the Ambala-Naraingarh state highway.

Meanwhile, the Panchkula district BJP unit functionary Sham Lal Bansal, a close relative of Shiv Kumar also reached the police station. He too, complained to the DSP and accused the constables and the Station House Officer Jai Kishan Sharma of harassing Shiv Kumar under the influence of liquor. Sharma contested the allegation and offered himself for medical checkup. In the meanwhile, the head constable slipped from the scene. The DSP, then sent both the head constable and constable to the police lines for dereliction of duty and beating up the trader.

Vehicles Stolen: A Maruti car (HNX 495) and a Hero Honda motor cycle (HR 08 A 6464) parked in two different Government offices were stolen during the day from Ambala Cantonment yesterday. The car parked in the office premises of the Naib Tehsildar and motor cycle in the office of the Employment Officer, were found missing after the owners of both the vehicles came out and could not locate them. The police have registered the cases.
