Driver challaned Rs 100 for not letting Governor146;s wife overtake

A CTU bus driver was challaned for not letting the Governor8217;s wife8217;s car to overtake. The challan was issued by policemen from Police Station, Sector 11, on instructions from the Raj Bhawan.

The incident occurred around 1.30 pm, when Jean Rodrigues8217;s car was on Madhya Marg. Rodrigues was coming from the side of the PGI roundabout and was headed for the GCG-11 roundabout. A CTU bus, which was also headed for the roundabout, did not let the car overtake, despite the siren.

Sources said the driver of Rodrigues8217;s car kept on blowing the siren for more than 600 metre on Madhya Marg but the bus driver did not relent. The driver was let off after paying Rs 100 as challan for 8220;obstructing overtaking8221;.

8220;The driver told us that he did not notice the VIP car. He told us that there wasn8217;t enough room to let the car overtake,8221; said a police officer.
